This online class is designed for writers wanting to start a new 10-minute, one-act, or full-length play. In ten weeks, you will be guided through a first draft with weekly lectures, assignments, and firm deadlines to keep you on track. Each assignment will be designed to unlock your creativity and motivate you to write. As you meet your deadlines, you will have the opportunity to conference with your instructor via Google Talk, Gchat, phone, or Skype during weekly office hours and receive the feedback necessary to tackle the next assignment. An online discussion board will allow you to share feedback, insight, and advice with your fellow writers. You can expect to finish the class with a working first draft and a refined set of skills for writing—and finishing—your next play.
