Now approaching its second birthday, PrimeTime has blossomed into one of the hottest ticketes in town. Convenientaly located in our in-house rehearsal studios, PrimeTime provides a home for writers to hear their new work read aloud. Simultaneously, friends of Primary Stages are invited to attend and be a part of a playwright’s creative process. Several plays have received productions at Primary Stages since participating in PrimeTime, including Michael Hollinger’s Opus, Lee Blessing’s A Body of Water, and Tina Howe’s Chasing Manet.
PrimeTime returns in 2009! Thursday, December 4 at 5:00pm Howie is a killer sales rep who has not found the deal he couldn't close. He comes home to the first night in his new luxury co-op and encounters Al, a "neighbor" who refuses to leave. Howie tries every trick in the book to rid himself of this unstable stranger. But it's Al who turns Howie's safe bourgeois world on its head when he threatens to throw himself out the window. Will Al jump? Can Howie prevent it? What happens when parallel worlds collide in New York City? _________________________________________________________________________________ Friday, December 5 at 5:00pm It's election season at Endover Academy and the race for Senior Class President is beginning to turn ugly. The Machiavellian Dickie, has convinced his best friend Bozo that joining the race will impress Bozo's father enough to loan them his beach house for Spring Break. But to win Bozo has to defeat Woody, the standing Junior Vice President and head of the debating society. A witty and erudite dark comedy about greed, power and the election process, The Prince Among Men bears a striking resemblance to the infamous 2000 U.S. election, though hopefully the consequences for the world economy won't be quite so disastrous. Both Readings will be held at 307 West 38th St, Suite 1510
