Jackson teaches directing at Columbia University and is on faculty at Primary Stages ESPA. She is the recipient of the Jonathan Alper Directing Fellowship at Manhattan Theatre Club, the Williamstown Theatre Festival Directing Fellowship, the Drama League’s New Directors/New Works Fellowship, and University of the Arts Silver Star Distinguished Alumni Award. Originally from Sugar Land, Texas, Jackson received her BFA in acting from the University of the Arts and MFA in directing from Yale School of Drama.
A musical is only as good as its libretto, the piece that marries the plot and character development with musical composition. This 10-week class tackles the techniques of plot structure, story development, and adaptation, as well as how to write for various musical genres such as pop, rock, and musical theater.
