THE HONOREES:
PATTI LuPONE won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and the Drama League Distinguished Performance Awards for her performance in the current revival of Gypsy. Also a Tony winner for her performance in Evita, her recent stage credits include Mrs. Lovett in John Doyle’s production of Sweeney Todd, Fosca in Passion for Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series (also broadcast on PBS’ “Live From Lincoln Center”), the title role in Regina at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center, the Old Lady in Candide and an earlier interpretation of Mrs. Lovett, both for the NY Philharmonic, La Mome Pistache in Can-Can for City Center Encores!, as well as the Broadway productions of Noises Off, The Old Neighborhood, Master Class, her own concerts Matters of the Heart and Patti LuPone on Broadway and three sold out solo concerts at Carnegie Hall She starred in the premiere of Jake Heggie’s To Hell and Back for the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra of San Francisco, made her debut with the L.A. Opera in their new production of Weill’s Mahagonny and starred in the title role in Marc Blitztstein’s Regina at the Kennedy Center. Ms. LuPone is a graduate of the first class of the Drama Division of the Julliard School, a Founding Member of John Houseman’s The Acting Company and a recent inductee into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

Their shows have been awarded 35 Tonys, 46 Drama Desk Awards, 37 Outer Critics Awards, 4 Grammys, 8 Olivier Awards and 2 Pulitzer Prizes and have been featured in The New York Times crossword puzzle ten times.
