You've got an idea for a screenplay! Now you need get it into the hands of the decision-makers. Playwright, screenwriter, and director Leslye Headland (Bachelorette with Kirsten Dunst, the upcoming Sleeping with Other People with Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie) leads this workshop on how to build a professional outline and pitch your screenplay to catch the eye of producers, executives, and financiers. You'll first cover how to effectively and efficiently document your story in outline form, including the development of the protagonist and his/her goal, how the world changes from beginning to end, and the major plot points of your script. Then Leslye will take you through the process of researching producers and studio execs, strategizing your approach, and creating a cohesive and well-rehearsed 60-second pitch that moves your listener into thinking, "This is a film I'd like to see." You'll leave the workshop with a solid toolbox to help move your screenplay one step closer to production. This class is open to all writers; you do not need to have a completed screenplay to attend.
