The main enemy for the protagonist is the antagonist. The main enemy in writing a screenplay is the infamous Second-Act Problem. Meet your foe head on in this 2-day workshop, and explore strategies for developing a problem-proof premise and conflict. With Kate, you will take an in-depth look at how to excite your audience with a hero who is challenged along a meaningful journey and proceed through your second act with two principles in mind: how your hero needs to be tested, and how your audience empathizes and delights in the hero’s process. Screenwriters of all levels are welcome to join, but familiarity with three-act structure prior to joining this workshop is highly recommended. You will be given rigorous homework assignments between workshop days, so please reserve writing time between classes.
