This 8-week class will focus on all the "pre-work" that goes into transforming the glimmer of an idea into a full-length screenplay. You will first screen several contemporary films and analyze the basic principles of the traditional three-act story structure seen in most mainstream Hollywood films today. Drawing upon those principles, Don will take your original ideas through the development process—from log line, to treatment, and to a detailed scene-by-scene three-act outline. By the end of your eight weeks with this intimate class of no more than 6 people, the challenging, doggedly-detailed pre-work will be complete, and you can dive head-first into the fun part: actually writing your screenplay!
