New class!
This class will guide you through the process of preparing a television treatment primed for pitching. Led by Jonathan Caren (Screenwriter, “Gypsy” on Netflix), this class meets twice a week to emulate the real-world scenario of turning around a pitch. On Tuesdays, you’ll discuss how to conceptualize and communicate ideas and material, along with exercises on character development, plot structure, and writing loglines. You’ll then immediately utilize these skills to develop and revise your own ideas for a series into a cohesive pitch and treatment, which you bring in each Thursday. You’ll leave this class with a draft of a treatment that has been through the stages of revision, as well as a logline, descriptive storyworld, and long-form character studies to support your pitch. Upon completing the class, your pilot will be green-lit for ESPA development in our Fall Television Writing class, which will be designed as the writers’ room for each of these ‘optioned’ series.
