Emily Shooltz is the Associate Artistic Director at Ars Nova in New York, where she has helped to develop and produce many shows, including Peter Sinn Nachtrieb’s BOOM; Liz Flahive’s FROM UP HERE; the pirate-puppet-rock show JOLLYSHIP THE WHIZ-BANG; Dave Malloy’s NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812; The Debate Society’s JACUZZI; and Bess Wohl’s SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS. She also runs Ars Nova’s multiple artist-development programs, including Play Group, for emerging playwrights, and Uncharted, for the development of new music-theater pieces. Prior to coming to Ars Nova, she spent four seasons as the Literary Manager at Manhattan Theatre Club. She has held staff and freelance dramaturgy positions at the Wilma Theater, Centerstage Baltimore, Yale Repertory Theatre, and the O’Neill Theater Center, and served on selection committees for the Kesselring and Princess Grace playwriting awards and on the editorial staff of Theater magazine. Ms. Shooltz holds an MFA in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism from the Yale School of Drama.
