New Class!
Regardless of the genre, playwright, or period, the director's job is to create a unified vision for a production that inspires collaboration among the artists and a transformative experience for the audience. Under the guidance of John Gould Rubin, you will discover over ten weeks that directing is as individual as any art form, demanding a personal journey of each artist. John will help you find your way into each project. You will explore aspects of dramaturgy, how to speak to designers, how to properly explain your theme and approach to actors, and staging—discovering a visual language and exploring how different spacial configurations transmit and evoke different things. With a company of actors, and with the option to provide your own actors, you will be on your feet directing every other week, learning firsthand how to effectively discover and communicate your artistic vision in the rehearsal room.
