Being able to break down a text is the key to unlocking the secrets of your character, allowing you to make the most substantial choices and ask the most effective questions. Cusi Cram (playwright, actor, and stage and film director) will offer practical advice on how to build a character with what’s been given, how best to use rehearsal time, and what to do when nothing is working. Prior to the workshop, you’ll be expected to read a script, which you will then analyze as a group during your morning session. By the afternoon, you’ll be on your feet with this text, putting your new skills to use. With a solid grasp on the fundamentals of objectives and super-objectives, obstacles, beats, and tactics, you’ll be able to bring cold readings to life and arrive at every first rehearsal ready to work.
