The recent influx of opportunities to submit self-taped auditions has created a host of new challenges for the modern actor. Gone are the days when all you had to focus on was preparing sides or a monologue. To that end, on the first day of the workshop, you’ll be on your feet in front of the camera, learning how to look and sound your best on film, including how to frame a shot, where to focus your eyes, what background to use, and how to look natural in front of the camera. Armed with the knowledge of the technical requirements for recording, uploading, and sending in your auditions like a pro using the equipment you likely already own, you’ll be tasked with a homework assignment of recording an audition tape between sessions. In the final session, you will review these tapes and discuss in-depth how to create a successful compilation reel. With these skills, you will leave this workshop able to avoid common self-taping mistakes so you can confidently and efficiently submit for any role.
