For actors, some of the most gratifying work happens in the rehearsal room. In this intensive, Director Kimberly Senior will lead you through a rehearsal process for The Laramie Project. You will take on multiple scenes and perhaps multiple roles, discarding traditional ideas of casting and gender, and instead focusing on doing the work. You will dive into this rich text together, and be asked to fearlessly jump into the world of the play on your feet and in the classroom. You will not have rehearsal outside of class, but rather be asked to do your actor homework on character and script analysis as you would while rehearsing a play for production. This intensive will be focused on the process, not the product, and by the end of the week you will have the tools to effectively communicate with your scene partners and tackle any rehearsal room, and the confidence to make bold choices regardless of the play or role.
