In this honest and refreshing discourse among actors and renowned actor, teacher, and director Geoffrey Owens, you'll improve your auditioning through making confident choices—both in your audition and in your life as an artist. Over the course of ten weeks, Geoffrey will demystify the audition process through rigorous exercises on audition preparation and scene analysis techniques, and monologues, sides, and cold readings from both classical and contemporary plays. With priceless stories on audition successes and failures coupled with individualized feedback, Geoffrey will make you a stronger and more confident actor in the room. You will leave this class with cold reading and prepared scene techniques, and a solid handle on the audition process for contemporary and classical plays.
Your final class will be attended by a prominent NYC director or casting agent, who will provide invaluable insight and feedback. Previous guests for Acting classes have included Darragh Garvey (Casting Department, MTC), Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Tony-nominated Director and Choreographer, Ragtime on Broadway), Ken Rus Schmoll (Director, Iowa at Playwrights Horizons), and Ken Melamed (Agent/Partner, Bret Adams Agency).
Please note that final class guests are subject to change.
