MICHAEL LARSEN
is a noted teacher of musical theatre performance and history. As a Master Teacher, Director and Musical Director, he was an intrinsic part of the theatre education program at world-renown Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Center for 24 seasons. Among his former students: actors Natalie Portman, Mandy Moore, Mary Stuart Masterson, Amy Ryan, Josh Charles, Jon Cryer, Zach Braff, Julia Murney, Erich Bergen and countless others. Michael has taught musical theatre master classes nationwide. He has conducted, accompanied and arranged for an enormous array of performers, including Theodore Bikel, Elaine Stritch, Judy Kaye, Len Cariou, Crista Moore, Mike Burstyn, Claire Barry, Larry Kert, Gloria De Haven and more. As a pianist, Michael’s theatre credits run from the original New York productions of Annie, Nine: The Musical, David Merrick’s 42nd Street, The Golden Land, and Little Shop of Horrors to more recent musical direction for Perez Hilton Saves the Universe…, Monsters the Musical, Breakin’ Up Is Hard to Do (Ogunquit Playhouse), Shlemiel The First (ACT San Francisco and Geffen Playhouse, L.A.), A New Brain (Carbonell Nomination 2003), and Songs of Paradise. Michael is the National Director and Musical Supervisor of Menopause The Musical, which he has staged and musically directed in 24 American cities, London’s West End and Toronto.
