LIZ DUFFY ADAMS

 

Liz Duffy Adams’ play Or, premiered Off Broadway with Women’s Project in 2009. It had its West Coast premiere at the Magic Theater in San Francisco, and has since been produced all over the country and in Canada. Her Dog Act was produced in NYC this past winter in a critically-acclaimed production by Flux Theater Ensemble; it premiered with Shotgun Players in San Francisco, winning the Will Glickman Award, and was the inaugural production for San Diego’s MOXIE Theater, who revived it last year. Other plays include Wet or, Isabella the Pirate Queen Enters the Horse Latitude; The Listener; The Reckless Ruthless Brutal Charge of It or, The Train Play; and One Big Lie. Adams received a Lillian Hellman Award for Playwriting in 2010, the Lilly’s inaugural year, for both Or, and Dog Act. Other honors include New Dramatists residency (2001–2008), New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and Weston Playhouse Music Theater Award, and residencies at the MacDowell, Djerassi, and Millay artist colonies. Publications include Poodle With Guitar And Dark Glasses in Applause’s “Best American Short Plays 2000-2001,” Or, in Smith & Kraus’ “Best Plays Of 2010,” numerous anthologized short plays and monologues, and several plays in acting editions by Playscripts, Inc. and Dramatists Play Service. She has taught at Mt Holyoke College, New Dramatists Teaching Collective, and Playwrights Foundation Institute. BFA: NYU’s Experimental Theater Wing; MFA: Yale School of Drama.
